Albert Hugh Harper died at home in Port Richey, Florida on March 15, 2023. Albert was 94 years young. He was born on May 2, 1928 in McDonald, Kansas. Albert dropped out of high school to feed and support his family. He also served honorably in the U.S. Army.
Albert then moved to Custer in 1976 where he lived until 2018. He worked at Sander Sanitation where he single-handedly sorted and searched through two full garbage trucks worth of refuse to locate a lost wedding ring for a fellow Custer, SD resident. Albert is survived by his brother, Melvin Harper; half sister, Mary Lois Aughe; daughter, Lois Thomason; son, Glenard Harper; daughter, Iva Krien; daughter, Flora Harris; and numerous grand and great-grandchildren.
Albert is preceded in death by his parents, Florence and Claude Harper; his wife, Fanchon Harper; and daughter, Sena Chazel. The celebration of life will be held in Texas later this year. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Jude’s or the Schriners.
