Major Anna Vick – Promoted to Glory Friday July 2nd, 2021
Ann was Promoted to Glory peacefully on July 2nd, 2021 from the Sturgill Care Center in Brooksville, Florida at the age of 77. She was born on December 3, 1943 at Bypro ,Kentucky and spent most of her youth in Eloise, Florida.
Ann was the youngest of 12 children and was the last surviving sibling. She is survived by her husband Major Tom Vick, her daughter Melissa (Bobby) Riordan, her granddaughter Natalie Riordan. Ann had many nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.
Ann met The Salvation Army of Winter Haven, Florida when her family moved next door to the Corps Building. She became a soldier and was active in all Corps Activities during her youth.
She and Tom met while in training and Ann was Commissioned with the Heroes of the Faith Session in 1964.
Tom and Ann were Commissioned to Pensacola, Florida as Assistant Corps Officers, and then served in Panama City, Anderson S.C. Boys Club, Pinellas Park, Tallahassee, Pensacola, Winter Haven, Tallahassee (again),DHQ-Disaster Services- Volunteer Coordinator, Port Richey and retired in 2008.
Ann loved reading all her life and read many books a year during her retirement years.
Ann was a faithful Corps Programmer, Bible Teacher and lead many to the Lord over the years, young and old. She had a beautiful singing voice and sang solos often in Sunday meetings.
Her Celebration of Life Service will be on July 17th at 11:00 am with the family receiving friends starting at 10:15 am. The service will be held at The Salvation Army: 7745 Ridge Rd. Port Richey, Florida 34668. Flowers may be sent directly to this address.
