Gifts & Memorial Donations

William Berry Alexander, age 90, of Port Richey passed away July 7, 2021. Berry was born July 28, 1930 in Macon, GA to Robert Alexander and Ruby Neal. He came to Florida as a teenager in the 1940s and graduated from Gulf High School. He met his late wife, Judy, and knew at first sight she was the girl he was going to marry. They spent 62 years together before her passing in 2017.

Berry served as a photographer in the US Navy. He was very blessed to spend his enlistment period in Hawaii during the Korean War. His mother’s prayers may have had something to do with his good fortune, though his charm and kind nature certainly contributed. After returning, he became a lineman for GTE and continued working for them until his retirement.

Berry was continually active with his church, 1st United Methodist Church of New Port Richey. He held several elder positions within the church and served in any capacity where he was needed. He also volunteered for the Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts and was a member of the Elks Lodge. Berry was truly “other centered” and selfless. He always gave – his time, his resources, his smile – he gave freely and often. He was a profoundly good man, devoted to his Lord and his family.

Berry loved to travel. He and Judy travelled the entire lower 48 of the United States in their RV. He also enjoyed bowling and cross stitch. He made treasured cross stitch keepsakes foreach of his grandchildren’s marriages and his great grandchildren’s births.

Berry is survived by his daughters, Victoria (Steve) Houser and Tracy (Scott) Wilhite; his sister, Gwynn Strickland; his grandchildren: Shannon Houser, Brent Wilhite, Tiffany Stalvey, and Faith Houser; and his great grandchildren: Braxton Stalvey, William Houser, Gracie Stalvey, Kathryn Houser, Tensley Wilhite, and Beckett Wilhite.

Please join his family for a memorial gathering on Sunday, July 11th from 2pm to 5pm at Michels & Lundquist Funeral Home. A memorial service at 1st United Methodist Church of New Port Richey will follow on Monday, July 12th at 11am.
