Gifts & Memorial Donations

Betty J Croft passed away peacefully on Friday, September 22, 2023, at Trinity hospital, under the care of Gulfside hospice and surrounded by her loving family.

She was 85 years old at the time of her death and told everyone she had lived a very full life.  She was born in Corbin, Kentucky in 1938, the 7th of 8 children.  She graduated High School from Corbin High School in 1956 and moved to Ohio to begin her career.  She achieved an upper management position within the Ohio Bell Telephone Company, managing telecommunications and information services for all of Ohio.

She retired in 1991 and spent several years traveling the country with her husband, Denton, who would work while she combed every community for unique shops and gifts that she often brought back to her family.  In 1996 they moved to New Port Richey, Florida to start their retirement life.  Neither could sit still for long and they became volunteers within the community, receiving a philanthropy award for a “Giving Heart” in 2004 from Community Aging and Retirement Services, where she spent many hours working to create computer classes as well as building a community of quilters to work together and display their finished pieces.   Betty loved to quilt in her later years, it gave her great joy and a support system of wonderful friends.   She always had a smile on her face and a loving heart.

Betty was predeceased by her husband, Denton and leaves behind her daughter, Erika; son in law, Rich, 4 grandsons, Richard (RJ), Nathan, Zachary and Mathew; 1 great grandson, Oliver; her beloved sister Barbara; and numerous friends.  She will be greatly missed by all.
