Birger(Bia,Bill) Osten Johansson passed away at age 91.5 on June 12, 2014. Born in Bohuslan Sweden on Aug 26, 1922. Wife Evelyn Johansson of 59 years passed away 2007. Formerly of Richmond Hill Bethpage Long Island, NY. Retired to Port Richey, FL in 1985; survived by his nephews in Sweden & Mildred Sandberg and many friends. Birger worked at a carpenter and painter and immigrated to the USA at age 20 and joined the USA Army in 1942. Assigned to the 10th Mountain Division and trained at Camp Hale, Colorado, transferred to the 99th infantry battalion separate as a skitrooper a special until to invade Norway. He was also stationed in Belgium France, Germany, Normandy. He was a life member of VASA Orden Lindbergh Lodge #505 NY and Son?s of Norway. A visitation will be held on Thursday from 5-7 at Michels & Lundquist Funeral Home; a Funeral service will be held Friday at 10:00 am and he will be laid to rest at Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell, FL. michels-lundquist.com
