Christopher Neil Whitesel, age 47, of Port Richey, passed away on July 2, 2023 in the water off of Honeymoon Island State Park in Dunedin, FL. Chris grew up in Hudson, FL and he graduated from Hudson High School where he was a standout baseball and football player. He obtained a Bachelor’s Degree from Chowan College in North Carolina, where he also played second base for the baseball team and earned several awards. Chris was a lifelong Detroit Tigers and Miami Dolphins fan and in his spare time, he loved his jeep, spending time at the beach, bike riding, and being on the water with his paddleboard. He died while doing exactly what he loved most.
Chris is survived by his loving mother, Andrea; father, Fred (Vicki); sister, Stacey Mattos (Scott); nieces, Alyssa and Deanna Mattos; grandmother, Margaret Turnbull; aunt, Paula Turnbull; cousin, Kathryn Tiefenthal (Andrew); as well as many other loved ones and friends. He is preceded in death by his grandfather, Benjamin Turnbull; uncle, Jeff Turnbull; and his beloved bulldog, Zach.
This sudden loss leaves a huge hole in our hearts and Chris will be deeply missed by his family and friends.
