Cornelia Yelinek

Cornelia E. Yelinek, age 92, of New Port Richey, passed away June 12, 2018. She was born on May 23, 1926 in Heidelberg, Germany to Cornel Scholl and Hilda Ratzel. Cornelia came to the states when she was 20 years old. She worked as a secretary for a tool and dye company where she met her beloved husband, Paul. The two wed in 1953 and in 1954 when they welcomed their first son, she became a homemaker. Cornelia and Paul moved to New Port Richey in 1978 and have been here since. When she was able, Cornelia attended the Unity Church of Port Richey.

Cornelia was fun-loving, outgoing, and an avid card player. She loved a glass or two of white zin in the evenings and spending time with friends and family. Cornelia was also passionate about dance. She taught polka and waltz. She even instructed and lead an event called the Strauss Ball that boasts 16 couples dancing the waltz at Cobo Hall’s Ballroom in downtown Detroit for three years in a row. In addition, she was one of the founders of the Austrian Ski Club of Detroit.

Cornelia is preceded in death by her dear husband of 42 years, Paul, and her first son, Paul S. She is survived by her loving son, Peter and his wife Kathy, two grandchildren, and three great grandchildren.

Visitation for Cornelia will be held on Sunday, June 17, 2018, from 4-8pm at Michels & Lundquist Funeral Home. Her funeral service will commence Monday 10am at the funeral home with procession to Meadowlawn Cemetery to follow.
