Gustav John Jakobs, 90, of New Port Richey, passed away on March 23, 2016 at the Regional Medical Center of Bayonet Point.  Born in the Bronx, NY on June 15, 1925, Gus was drafted to the US Navy in 1943 and served in WWII, achieving the rank of Coxswain before his honorable discharge in 1946.  He became a banker and worked up to the position of Vice President for CitiCorp.  When Gus retired, he moved from Manhattan to New Port RIchey in the late 1980s.  He has volunteered for Bayonet Point Hospital for several years and is also a former elder at Hope Lutheran Church.  He was very well liked and will be fondly missed.

Gus is survived by his wife Kay of 11 years; children: Wayne and Marianne; step children Carl, Trina, Theresa, and Andrew; grandchildren Daniel and Josh; and great grandchildren Derek, Alex, and Amanda.

A visitation will be held for Gus on April 5th, 2016 from 4-6pm at Michels & Lundquist Funeral Home.  A memorial service will later be held on April 23rd at Hope Lutheran Church.
