Hazel Lucas Laughery Kessler, of New Port Richey, passed away on March 4, 2015. Hazel was a native of Paterson, New Jersey, born there on June 22, 1933 to the late John and Amelia Laughery. She is survived by her husband of 64 years, Raymond Kessler Sr., son, Raymond Kessler Jr. and his wife Cindy of Shacklefords, Virginia; son, Scott Kessler of New Port Richey, Florida; daughter, Christina Marston and husband Charles of Lynchburg, Virginia; daughter, Cynthia Kessler of Orlando, Florida; grandchildren, Christina Ward and husband Benjamin Sr. of New Kent, Virginia, and Faith and Adam Beeler both of Lynchburg, Virginia; great-grandchildren, Brooke and Benjamin Ward Jr.; siblings, John Laughery, Eva Belles, and Robert Heerschap.
Hazel grew up in Paterson, New Jersey and married Raymond in 1950. They moved to Oak Ridge, New Jersey in 1955, Port Richey, Florida in 1970, and finally New Port Richey, Florida in 1986. She loved being a youth leader and claimed all of the church as a part of her family. She is a born again Christian and is ready to walk the streets of gold and talk to Jesus. We know she is up there getting our mansions ready for when on that glorious day we will see her again. She was a mom to many children besides her own. A visitation will be held at the Michels and Lundquist Funeral Home on Saturday, March 7, 2015 from 10 to 11 am; a funeral service will follow at 11 am. Hazel will then be buried at the Grace Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Hudson, Florida.

Mrs. Kessler was a special lady and mother. Her warm Christian spirit was felt every time we spoke to her. Our hearts go out to you during this time. Please be comforted in knowing she will be there to help you make your crossing someday. Love to all.
Matthew 5:4
Mom was an angel sent from heaven to bring laughter and joy to all that knew her. She lit up the room with her sweet smile. She will truly be missed by many. Take comfort in knowing she is standing in awe praising God and awaiting our arrival one day. We love you.
