John Willis “Bud” Anderson, age 94, of Holiday, joined his beloved wife, Janice, in the arms of the Lord on October 13, 2020, just 15 days after her passing. John was born on June 2, 1926 in Lafayette, IN to John Sr. and Rosa Anderson. He bravely and proudly served his nation during WWII in the Navy as a gunner on the USS Cabot and the USS Langley. He kept a picture of his darling wife and daughter to remind him what he was fighting to come home to. Once safely home, he began work for Union Carbide at the Stellite Factory as a machine operator. He and Janice came to Florida in 1982 after retiring.
John loved travelling with his wife, fishing, and lawn work. He happily performed the duties of groundskeeper for the United Methodist Church on US 19 in Holiday for decades. He could often be found volunteering his time and resources alongside his wife or spending time with his family. A generous and sweet man, he was a lifetime member of the VFW and was still making regular donations to a retired veterans’ organization.
Aside from his devoted wife of 77 years, Beatrice Janice, John is preceded in death by his daughter, Linda L’Heureux. He is survived by his sons, Kenneth and John; daughters, Jean and Carol; nine grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; and 11 great great grandchildren, plus one on the way.
Visitation will be held Thursday, October 22, 2020 from 11am to 12pm at the funeral home. A private burial service will follow.
Arrangements are entrusted to Michels & Lundquist Funeral Home.
