For eternity, we honor our veteran, Chief Master Sargent Joseph J. Boyd, who lost his battle to cancer on Tuesday, March 5th at 9 am. He died peacefully, surrounded by his family.
On August 2nd, 1945, Joseph J. Boyd was born to Jack and Mary Boyd. Joseph was the third and middle son who loved his siblings with all his heart – Jack Boyd, Francis Boyd, Thomas Boyd, and his baby sister, Jean Marie (Boyd) Burt. After a family-rich childhood, he completed school and joined the United States Air Force to begin his incredible journey through life. In May of 1965 at the age of 19, Airman Joseph Boyd would meet the love of his life, Claudia Louverne Curry, on the white beaches of Florida in Fort Walton Beach while stationed at Eglin Air Force Base. Their immediate attraction to each other blossomed into a 54-year journey that would take them around the world in exploration and celebration. Joseph and Claudia were gifted with two sons: John Randall Boyd and Joseph J Boyd. As a family man, the elder Joseph set the standard for how to be a loving husband, guiding father, charitable man, protector, mentor, and man of God. His 40-year military and civil service career would send him around the world to bear witness to conflict and honorably serve and protect his country.
As Joseph proceeds to the house of the Lord, he is welcomed by his parents, Jack and Mary Boyd. He is deeply mourned by his beloved wife, Claudia; sons and their spouses: John Boyd (Karen Boyd) and Joseph Boyd (Candace Boyd); and their grandchildren: Randall Boyd, Benjamin Boyd, Catherine Boyd, Claudia Boyd, Tyler Boyd, Ryan Boyd, Trey Perez, and Esperanza Perez.
On Friday, March 8th anyone who was touched by Joseph’s life is welcome to join us in the memorial of his journey and celebrate his memory with us in a day of remembrance.
