Judy Alexander, 81, of Port Richey, passed away November 9, 2017. She was born in Palatka, FL to Doc and Bunnie Minton on March 7, 1936. Judy moved to the New Port Richey area when she was a young teenager. A graduate of Gulf High School, she has lived and worked in this area nearly her whole life. She married the love of her life in 1955 at the First United Methodist Church in downtown. Over 60 years later, she and her husband still attend the church.
Judy was a bookkeeper in her working years. Most notably, she worked for City Hall, but she also kept the books for many other local businesses. She was a very active lady. Throughout the years, Judy was the chair for the local chapter of the March of Dimes, the district leader for the Girl Scouts of America, a Sunday school teacher, treasurer for the church as well as the preschool the church ran, and a current member of the United Methodist women’s group.
Judy was very organized and an avid reader. She loved word games, puzzles, and bingo. She had a fantastic sense of humor, but was always a proper Southern belle. She was kind and caring, and sent cards for every occasion, big or small. She loved her family very much and was truly one of a kind.
Judy is survived by her devoted husband of 62 years, Berry Alexander; her daughters, Vicky (Steve) Houser and Tracy (Scott) Wilhite; six grandchildren; and ten great grandchildren.
Visiting hours for Judy will be held at Michels & Lundquist Funeral Home on Tuesday, November 14, from 1-3pm and 5-7pm. A celebration of her life will be held at the First United Methodist Church of New Port Richey on Wednesday, November 15, at 10am with reception to follow.
