Luz Celenia Manley

Luz Celenia Manley, 63, of Holiday, lovingly known as “Lucy,” passed away July 15, 2022. She was born and raised in Aguadilla, Puerto Rico, and despite the challenges of her difficult life,
Lucy remained a kid at heart.

She was an outgoing and colorful woman who lit up any room she walked into. If a good song came on within her earshot, or simply came to mind, she would stop to sing and dance to it no matter where she was. Lucy was always the life of the party and would speak her mind with no filter. She preferred hugs over handshakes and left a lasting impression on any person she met. Whether it be weeks or years, no matter where she went, there was always someone she would come across who remembered her and she would welcome them with open arms and a smile.

Lucy had a life long love for cooking. She was always writing down a new recipe to try and she often used food to express her love to others. Her favorite activities included playing dominoes or the board game “Trouble,” spending time with her daughter, and excitedly discussing the dramas of her latest telenovela.

Lucy is most remembered for her compassionate and giving nature. A woman of faith, she devoted much of her time to ministering unto other people, particularly the less fortunate. She worked as a home health aide and caretaker for the elderly, but she also cared for the homeless by feeding them and even offering them her home to take showers and escape the cold winter nights. Her ministry was not just limited to people, however, as she also had a deep love for animals. Lucy had a life-long love for God and strived to spread his word to others through her countless acts of kindness.

She is predeceased by her husband who she had been with for 9 years, Patrick James Manley; her sister, Milagros Talavera Gonzalez; and her parents, Elva Iris Gonzalez Vidal and Eladio

Lucy is survived by her loving daughter, Lorraine “Lola” Manley (Holiday, FL); her sister, Evelyn Talavera Gonzalez (Aguadilla, PR); her brother, Luis Talavera Gonzalez (Palm Bay, FL); and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins. She will be deeply missed by everyone who was blessed to have known her.

A memorial service will be held at Michels and Lundquist Funeral Home at 11:00 am on Saturday July 30, 2022. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made at the following link:

And in lieu of a financial donation, the family requests a story, favorite photo, or words of comfort be shared to Lucy’s tribute wall on her obituary page.
