Mager, Richard F, 82, of New Port Richey, passed away peacefully on April 4, 2015. Richard was born on May 21, 1932 in Queens, New York to the late Joseph and Henrietta Mager. Richard proudly served his country and retired from the United States Air Force, serving in the Korean War and Desert Storm. He made a living working as an engineer for military contractors in the Air Force. He enjoyed also working as a volunteer for Starkey Park and The Pasco county Sheriff’s Office.
He is predeceased by his wife, Mary Mager. He is survived by his sons, Richard (Shelley) Mager and Thomas (Wendy) Mager; daughter, Theresa (Ron) Bitz; sister, Lillian Pietzack; 7 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.
There will be a gathering of family and friends at the Michels & Lundquist Funeral Home on Thursday, April 23 from 2 to 4 pm. The family will have a reception dinner following the gathering at the Timber Greens Club House at 4:30 pm. A funeral mass will take place at the St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church on Friday, April 24 at 10:30 am. A graveside military honors service will follow at 1 pm at the Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, Florida, where Richard will be laid peacefully to rest with his wife.
