Mr. Smith was born in Saginaw, Michigan, and lived in Tonawanda, NY. He proudly served his country in The United States Air Force and completed a tour of Vietnam in the mid 1960’s. He was honorably discharged in 1968.

He moved to Dunedin, Florida, where he raised his family and worked for the United States Postal Service.

Ron loved baseball and photography and volunteered his time as coach and team photographer for the Dunedin Little League. His love for animals led him to volunteer at the Humane Society of Pinellas, where he combined two of his passions, photography and helping stray animals, by offering “Photos with Santa”, for many years.

Mr. Smith moved to Wesley Chapel in 1997, where he continued his work with animal photography and developed a woodworking business, Satauri Woodworking, where he created unique raised pet feeding tables for dogs and cats. He dedicated much of his time to helping strays and gave a loving home to many pets over the years of his retirement.

Ron Smith will be remembered as a quiet, kind and generous man, who loved his country, his family, and his beloved pets.

Internment will be at Bushnell Memorial Cemetery at a later date, to be determined by his family.

Donations may be made to the Suncoast Animal League of Palm Harbor and Rugaz Rescue Inc.
