Gifts & Memorial Donations

Ronald Howard Traenkle, of Holiday, Florida, was finally reunited with his beloved wife, Patricia Elizabeth (Dunn) Traenkle on Sunday, September 3, 2023.

Born on April 26, 1946 in Lackawanna, NY, Ron graduated from Canisius High School and Erie County Technical Institute.  He married his high school, sweetheart, Patty, in 1967 and moved to Bensalem, Pennsylvania.  Ron joined the Bensalem Police Department in 1972 and proudly served the community for more than 25 years.  He retired in 1998 achieving the rank of Captain.  Throughout his career, Ron established himself as an expert in law enforcement and spent the next 40 years consulting with numerous law firms and lecturing at universities and law enforcement agencies, including Penn State, Northwestern University and the DC Capitol Police.

With all his professional accomplishments, Ron would tell you he was most proud of his family and volunteer work within the community.  He was a devoted husband, father, and ‘grampa’.  He loved entertaining friends with jokes, stories of his time as an officer, trivia challenges, routing for his favorite sports teams and exploring the waters and wildlife near his home.  Ron had a kind and generous heart.  He was quick to help a friend in need, whether it was a ride, a listening ear or a big bear hug.  His dedication to serving the community remained throughout Ron’s life.  As one of the board of directors at the Tat Civic Association, he was proud to be a part of the many community outreach events the Tat Club organized.  He, along with other members of the club, worked tirelessly to create a family friendly gathering place, as well as build a better community as a whole.

Ron will be deeply missed by his family, Robin (John) McLaughlin, Christi (Jason) Bohot and Kelly (Dave) Wickersham, his 7 grandchildren, and his many friends.

Friends are invited to attend Ron’s visitation on Saturday, September 9, 2023 from 11-1pm at Michels & Lunquist Funeral Home at 5228 Trouble Creek Road, New Port Richey.
