Rose Herold, 93, of New Port Richey, Florida passed away on December 6, 2014. She was
born in Chisholm, Minnesota and retired to Florida from Arlington, Virginia in 1973. In 1942, she along with some of her classmates were recruited to go to Washington, D.C. to work for the Government. She retired as a Staff Assistant in the West Wing of the White House where she served over 28 years, during the administrations of Presidents Truman, Eisenhower, Kennedy, Johnson and Nixon. Her career in the West Wing offices began when she was one of a group of Federal employees from the various departments who were called to the White House to assist in the preparation of acknowledgements to the thousands of letters of condolence received at the time of President Roosevelt?s death. She remained on the staff until her retirement in1973.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Francis (Frank) of 58 years in 2007. She is survived by her brother; Joseph (Jean) Marches, her sister; Elsie Youmans, niece; Beverly Youmans, nephews; Douglas Youmans and Richard Carlson, step-daughters; Alda Herold and
Peg (Books) Blitch and several grandchildren
