Sheila Ann Smith, age 64, passed away December 14, 2016 under the care of Gulfside Hospice. She was born to Alfred and Ruth Smith on November 16, 1952 in Chicago, IL. She came to Florida with her parents as a baby in 1954.
Sheila was born was down syndrome, but she never let that slow her down. She played and laughed like any child. She especially loved to dance with her favorite dance partner, her father. She was a huge fan of Elvis Presley and enjoyed country music. She began attending the Parkland School in Pinellas Park when she was 7 years old and attended for many years. She then attended the Open Door School in New Port Richey for over 20 years until her physical limitations prevented her from being able to go.
Sheila is preceded in death by her beloved father, Alfred Smith, who passed away in November. She is survived by her loving mother, Ruth Smith; her brothers, Thomas Smith (Jane) and Robert Smith; and her sister, Deborah Rostel (Pete).
Visitation for Sheila will be held on Wednesday, December 21, 10am-11am. A Funeral Service will be held the same day after the visitation. Following the service, please join the family for a reception from 12-2pm. All services to be held at Michels & Lundquist Funeral Home. Sheila will be laid to rest with her father at Florida Naional Cemetery on Friday, December 23, at 10am.
