Gifts & Memorial Donations

Susan Diane Twombly King age 70, passed away peacefully and gracefully on Thursday July 20, 2023, surrounded by her family.  She will be remembered for putting the needs of others before her own and her continuous care and concern for her family, friends, and strangers.  Susan was strong, resilient, selfless, smart, funny, faithful, and beautiful.  A devoted, caring nurse for over 40 years. Her patients were very special to her, and their needs were most important.  Her devotion to her husband, kids, and grandchildren was like no other.  Susan’s love for those around her had no boundaries.  She touched many peoples’ lives with her big heart, sense of humor, selflessness, and great advice.  She was an example to everyone on how to be an honorable person.  She was admired by many.

Susan is survived by her husband Earl Louis King Jr., her three children John King, Keith King and Tammy King Mathison, also her son-in-law Kurt Mathison.  She was blessed with 7 grandchildren who were extremely important to her.  Susan was born in Boston, MA. and grew up in Hingham, MA. with 7 brothers and sisters and her mom and dad Kenneth & Arline Twombly.  She graduated from Hingham High School in 1970. While in high school she met the love of her life Earl.  They married in 1971 and were married for 52 years.  Susan and Earl’s love truly stayed strong through it all including sickness and health.  Susan received her nursing degree from Quincy College in 1972.  When they started a family Susan and Earl moved to Plymouth, MA. until their kids were grown.  They then moved to North Carolina for many years and finally Florida, to be closer to their daughter and grandchildren.  She eventually retired from nursing at the age of 63.

In her last days, Susan was without fear.  Instead, she was filled with the peace of knowing that her faith was strong and that her mom and dad are waiting for her in heaven.  She assured everyone that she was not scared, but at peace with the circumstances.  She only worried how her family would recover.  That was Susan, always worried about everyone else.  She made life easier for everyone without a doubt. She will forever be remembered as a strong, fearless, resilient, selfless woman.  She was and will forever be the heartbeat for her family.

Plans for a celebration of life to follow in the coming months to honor the life of this special women.  Donations can be made to Saint Jude in honor of Susan.

I will always remember the sleepovers we had at your house and your mom helping me when I had a stomach ache showing me how to rub my belly and it went away. .. lol I still think of that to this day. A great trick from a great nurse. She was the cool mom. ❤️ May you all find comfort in the memories and love you all shared for her. She will be missed… RIP Susan 🙏 Love, Alyssa Adams

Dear Buster and family , so sorry for you all . Susan was a great sister in law ! I envied her parenting and was always asking for advice. She was so kind and non judging. One memory that sticks out was when we were dancing at one of her kids wedding to “Love Shack “ she and I were dancing and having so much fun , laughing so hard to Rock Lobstah ! Full of life , great sense of humor and gone way to soon . Her spirit will be missed by so many ! Hugs to you all , Jane

I worked with Sue on 2EastB at Jordan Hospital in the 80s. She was a constant source of great nursing, humor and energy. Arrived to work every morning with a 2liter bottle of Pepsi that was gone by the end of the shift! Fly with the angels my friend..
