Gifts & Memorial Donations

Susan (Suzie) Irene Phillips  (nee: Edmondson) Suzie was born in Philadelphia, PA on  8-3-1956. She passed away on 7-9-2023 in Zephyrhills, FL. Suzie was raised in Abington, (Montgomery County), PA, where she graduated in 1974 from Abington High School. Her parents owned a gift shop in NE Philadelphia for many years, called “The Treasure Chest”, and Suzie worked there often during her late teen years. After graduating High School, Suzie took her passion for animals and when to work for a local veterinary. She loved being around the animals.

She lived in PA until the mid-1980’s, when she moved to FL to be closer to her parents, who resided in Brooksville, FL. After moving to Zephyrhills, FL, Suzie worked for a few trucking companies, in billing and as a dispatcher. Suzie loved to crochet blankets, and many a friend was the recipient of her beautiful work. They were truly pieces of art. As her passion for animals, especially stray cats, continued, Suzie would often find as many as she could, and would take them to a local shelter to be neutered, which they did for free.  She would also feed the stray cats around her home and was even able to take a few in as her own. She was their fierce protector and let no one talk ill of them!!  She was predeceased by her parents, Jim and Betty Lou Edmondson. She had no survivors, just her two oldest and closest childhood friends, Julie Smith and Cathy Lengele.  We will miss you, Sue!  XOXO

If anyone would like to make a donation in Suzie’s name, she would love it if you would donate to your local SPCA in her memory. There will be no service, but please say a prayer for Suzie, as she is now at peace!

    Marybeth Rehr says:
I was a long time friend of Susie's since we met working at the Pa.SPCA in the late 1970s. Her colorful stories, laughter and her deep love of animals and life will always stay in my heart. She had a special devotion to her cats and even her turtle and goldfish were always included when signing her cards. I was a recipient of one of her beautiful blankets of which I am grateful. I will miss you Suzie but God now has you in heaven and you are free of worries and pain. I am so thankful to have called you friend.
