McCart, Vivian Ruth “Dot”, 100, of Port Richey, passed away on Friday, April 14, 2017. A beloved mother and grandmother, she is survived by son, Craig McCart (MaryLou), Weeki Wachee, FL, daughter-in-law Janie McCart, Hudson, FL, 7 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren, sister Lois Fitzgerald, Clarendon,PA, numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by husband, Rev. William McCart, son, Keith McCart, son Bruce McCart, 3 brothers and 4 sisters.
She was born to John Bailor and Ruth Ella McNeel in Hotchkiss, VA on April 21, 1916. She grew up on a farm, attended schools in Pennsylvania and after graduating high school, she worked for several years prior to attending the Missionary Training Institute in Nyack, NY where she met and married William McCart of Albany, NY in 1943. She served as a pastor’s wife in 6 churches over the next 47 years. They moved to New Port Richey, FL in 1962 to pastor a newly organized Christian and Missionary Alliance Church for 2 years and then the Port Richey Community Church for 26 years where they retired in 1990.
Vivian was the first teacher, in the mid 1960’s, at the newly formed Open Door School for mentally challenged students and also worked for the Pasco County Schools Headstart Program in Elfers where she retired after 10 years. She loved baseball, crocheting, sewing and was the happiest when surrounded by her family. A visitation will be held Friday, April 21 from noon until 2 pm with services immediately following at Michels & Lundquist Funeral Home and graveside at North/Meadowlawn Cemetery.
