Rachel Mayo started in the funeral profession in 2008 as a preneed funeral and cemetery counselor. She began taking classes to become a funeral director and embalmer almost immediately, knowing that she had found her calling. While attending St. Petersburg College, Rachel worked full time in the profession in various roles, learning practical skills alongside her book studies. After graduating in June of 2012, she spent the early years of her career focused on specializing in embalming and restoration techniques. She returned to performing the combined roles of funeral director and embalmer in early 2016. She feels that making what is quite possibly the worst day in someone’s life just a little bit easier to bear is her life’s purpose.
